Process design of fish feed production line in Thailand
Brief description of process flow:
- Feeding and crushing: Wheat, corn, soybean meal, rapeseed meal granular raw materials are fed and crushed by a crusher.
- Mixing: Add fish meal, trace elements and oil to the materials and mix them in a closed mixer.
- Ultrafine: The materials enter the ultrafine crusher for further crushing.
- Boiler supply steam: The biomass boiler uses formed biomass particles as fuel to generate steam for the subsequent granulation and post-ripening process.
- Granulation: The material is fed into the sinking fish feed machine and a little water is added for granulation for about 2 minutes. Post-ripening: The material is fed into the ripener for post-ripening for 8 minutes.
- Cooling: The material is cooled by a cooling fan.
- Grading, packaging and storage.
In order to ensure that the granulation and post-ripening temperatures are both at 70-80°C, the project uses the steam generated by the boiler to indirectly heat the fish feed pelletizer and ripener.
What is the prospect of building a fish feed production line in Thailand?
Building a fish feed production line in Thailand has good development prospects, but it is necessary to comprehensively consider factors such as local market demand, policy support, resource endowment and competitive environment. The following is a key analysis:
Advantages of Thailand’s fish feed industry
Developed aquaculture industry
Thailand is a major aquaculture country in Southeast Asia. The main aquaculture species include tilapia, shrimp (white shrimp), catfish, basa fish, etc., and the demand for feed is large.
In 2023, the scale of Thailand’s aquatic feed market is about 2 million tons/year, and with the intensive breeding, the demand for high-quality feed will increase.
Policy support
The Thai government encourages investment in agriculture and food processing, and some provinces (such as the Eastern Economic Corridor EEC) provide tax exemptions, land concessions and other policies.
Imports of equipment related to fisheries may enjoy tariff preferences.
Convenient supply of raw materials
Thailand can provide some feed raw materials (such as fish meal, rice bran, cassava), but soybean meal, corn, etc. still need to be imported (mainly from South America or neighboring countries).
The geographical location is superior, making it easy to purchase raw materials from Vietnam, Indonesia, etc.
Export potential
Thailand is the export center of aquatic products in ASEAN, and its feed products can radiate to surrounding markets such as Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, etc.
Investment advice
Precisely position the market
High-end specialty feed: Functional feed for shrimp and high-value fish (such as grouper) has higher profits.
Localized formula: Adjust the nutritional ratio according to the Thai breeding varieties (such as tilapia feed needs low protein cost optimization).
Site selection strategy
Give priority to the eastern coastal provinces (such as Chonburi and Rayong), which are close to breeding areas and ports and have low logistics costs.
Or choose the north/central (such as Chiang Mai and Bangkok) to use local agricultural by-products (such as rice bran) to reduce costs.
Cost control
Use alternative protein sources (such as insect protein and algae) to reduce dependence on fish meal.
Invest in automated production lines to reduce labor costs.
